Melanie Cox

Melanie D. Cox was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2001, after graduating from The University of North Carolina School of Law. She received her undergraduate degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., in 1998, graduating summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and as an Academic All-American in swimming.

Melanie grew up in Charlotte, NC, and began her legal career as an assistant district attorney for the 20th Prosecutorial District from 2001 to 2007, where she gained extensive trial experience, trying numerous jury trials and hundreds of bench trials. She then joined the law firm of Perry, Bundy, Plyler & Long, LLP in Monroe, NC, where she specialized in civil litigation from 2007 to 2015.

In April of 2015, she and her husband, Chris Cox, opened Cox Law Firm, PLLC in Waxhaw, North Carolina. Melanie continues to focus her practice on family law and municipal law. Her current municipal clients include the towns of Stallings, Wingate, Indian Trail, Fairview, and Polkton.

Outside of her legal practice, Melanie enjoys playing tennis and volunteering in her community. She and her husband, Chris, live in the Waxhaw-Marvin area with their two teenage children.
